Bioinspired Signature Management: A Workshop
Date and time
Location
Keck Center, Room 100
500 Fifth St. NW Washington, D.C 20001Description
How can we manage the spectrum (predominantly IR) to improve ground combat outcomes? Nature has evolved many examples of measures and countermeasures for signature detection between predators and prey. To explore this, and determine what best practices can be leveraged from biological systems, the National Academies' Board on Army Research and Development is convening a workshop on September 16, 2019 in Washington, DC to explore the limits nature can achieve in “hiding” in different electromagnetic spectra and highlight concepts for how engineered material systems can better leverage bio-inspired concepts.
